Sort of. I'm not really expecting work to be off tomorrow. Sadly.
I am off to bed in a moment, but first, some femslash I've posted:
Two drabbles and an actual fic, hurrah.

Ugh. Bed. Where it is WARM. And my head won't hurt. Hopefully.
Law school apps: 4 down, 4 to go. I'm stalling on UCLA (still), Stanford may be submitted tonight depending on how I'm feeling, and I still need to figure out how I'm going to comment on Pepperdine's mission statement. I've just submitted U of M's application and that feels like a big load off my chest.
I've decided to hold off visiting anywhere until I start hearing back from people. Which hopefully should be January. No point visiting a school if I didn't get in.
Work really sucks this week and it's only Tuesday. It was crisis after crisis today, utterly ridiculous. I'm ready for this week to be over.
Can anyone toss the names of a few bad movies that Skiffy has made in my direction, please? (I'm working on a review of Alice for MRFH.) I've got Mansquito.
Thanks muchly!
Everyone that wanted Lightsaber Chopsticks, I bring you good news. One of my friends found them.

LMAO, they took the snowflake cookies down?! (Already-sent ones are still there, you just can't "buy" them for $0 anymore.)
Boo. I never got to jump on the meme. You all know I love you, right? *kisses flist*
Because I really should have specified this-
The deadline for the Secret Holiday Gifting is Anywhere Between December 20th and January 10th. This is to ensure that everyone gets their fic during the holiday season and that if there is a need for pinch-hitting it can be filled.
If you believe you will need a pinch hitter, please tell me by December 20th!

He marked that feeling to memory. It was so good it couldn’t last for long.
Thank you, evil_little_dog!
1. Self. No making icons. You have sg rp fics to write.
2. Everyone else: I cannot cookie you, since lj sucks.
Thanks to everyone for the pretty, pretty snowflakes in my profile! I like frenzies like that :)
I'm not sure if I'll bother live-blogging part 2 of Alice tonight. The truth is, I was fully prepared to mock it last night, and I ended up LOVING it. The one clip I saw (which hasn't been on yet) was so deceptive... it's actually been really good. Who knew?
I've been working on my
gaeta_squee secret santa, and I'm still torn about it, if I should continue, or if I should put this on hold and write it afterward. I don't know. I'm seven pages in already, but at the same time, I'm not turning cartwheels over those seven pages. Dunno. ::gnaws lip in thought:: I also need to get my butt in gear on
yuletide. Hey,
blue_crow, what's the deadline on the secret santa?
I have an idea brewing for an original fiction, too. It could be interesting, but it hasn't brewed enough yet. I've been taking the Zoloft for PMDD, and I find that I have a hard time coming up with ideas when I'm on it. Truthfully, I feel like I'm on NyQuil all the time because it makes me drowsy :P
Ah well. Alice starts in twelve minutes. I think what I need is Hot Chocolate ice cream.

Thank you to those who sent V-gifts today!

I don't feel strange about being an older student in school. The fact that I'm 23 and about to be a junior next semester doesn't actually bother me, for all that I joke about it. The people I'm in school with don't feel younger than me, though whether that says more about me or them I'm not sure.
However, every once in a while something happens that makes me realize that there is indeed an age difference between me and the rest of the people in my classes.
This morning, as I was editing my group's paperwork for our presentation on Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, I learned that the boy we have playing Oscar had been, up until the point of reading this script, completely unaware of the fact that sodomy had ever been illegal.
I stopped. I stared. I gaped openmouthed. I tried to figure out a way to rewrite some of his sentences so that they didn't contradict reality, since he seemed to be utterly oblivious to the fact that as the play was published in 1999, sodomy was still illegal in some states.
Once I restructured that paragraph, I wondered how it was possible that anyone could be ignorant of that fact.
I then realized that he's a freshman. He was 12 when the sodomy laws were struck down. I certainly don't remember any important political action from when I was 12. I felt so old.
On the other hand, there's something that makes me smile at the thought of an 18 year old straight man who is completely baffled by the idea of gay sex being illegal. "The world is growing more tolerant" indeed.
When posting my Alice post, I realized I completely forgot to post this HERE, of all places. ::head desk:: Sorry about the spam of it.
Title: Here on the Hill, Halfway Up Halfway Down
Author:
lls_mutant
Word Count: ~29,800
Rating: Between PG-13 and R, higher rating for violence. Sex fades to black extremely quickly.
Pairings: Mainly Gaeta/Cavil, with background pairings of Ellen/Cavil, the Tighs, and mentions of former male partners for Gaeta, including Baltar.
Summary: Before the attacks, Felix Gaeta knew Brother Cavil as the chaplain on the Galactica. On New Caprica, Cavil became an ideal source of information, and Felix was willing to do what he had to do to get it. But how deeply can you entangle someone in a web without catching yourself as well?
Notes: Written before viewing the Plan, but after reading spoilers. After checking BSG wiki, I'm very annoyed to find out that Cavil came aboard at a different time- I'd assumed he was the chaplain on Galactica from the series. Oh well, what the frak, it's an AU anyway. The title and the chapter titles are stolen from a song called "The Company" by Fish. Written for the
bsgficexchange, before I got way too carried away, and happy late birthday to my recipient! Thanks to
merrykk for the beta, to
rednuck for allowing me to submit a second big bang, and to

The short, non-spoilery review of Alice, part 1 (although spoilers may be in the comments):
If you have no interest in Alice and are only watching for AJ, you will be disappointed. He's had maybe 2-3 lines so far (although he is working them with everything he's got.)
HOWEVER.
The video posted here was very deceptive of the production values- it's a lot higher budget than that video looked. It's vastly exceeding my expectations, and I'm really enjoying everything about it, as is my husband. (I do adore Alice in Wonderland, and don't have an issue with adaptations.) The guy playing the Hatter- Andrew-Lee Potts- is TOTALLY stealing the show. It's got some really interesting concepts, actually, and it's definitely a grown-up, grittier Wonderland.
Very, very, very worth watching, and I'm really looking forward to the second part of it tonight.
o.O
Er, thanks for all the vgifts, guys.
Someone was asking me to send this along, and I can't recall who, so what the heck, here's a copy of the list of games and comics that I want. I copied it from the list I keep at the store.

HEY. WHERE IS MY SNOW DAY, WISCONSIN?
You know the hilarity of going to bed with your car coated in snow and waking up to it all melting?
Yeah.
I wonder how the weather people are feeling with egg on their face this morning?
eta: also, windows, you are such a piece of crap. Now I have to try to remember all the things I had OPEN. Bah.
