Challenge: I TOTALLY CHEATED ON NUMBER 3 LIKE A LOT
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabblet/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.

My girlfriend made these screenshots from the HD DVD rip, and I thought I'd share. They're from Kobol's Last Gleaming, not from the eps we just covered, so I didn't use that many in the recap. Hope it's not too spammy to make a separate post, but these are just so pretty. Click for larger size.

Dear children,

It is I, Maidel. You may have heard of me whenever someone chants "This is my dell" upon acquiring their own piece of adorable hardware. While Macs are better in that obvious way that I will maintain until my grave, Dells? Still coolios. Anywho, I come bearing gifts. Or rather, a picspam. Try and contain your excitement. As difficult as it may be. Anywho, this week, it's a pitch hit picspam where the caps decided to hate me. And by hate, I do mean make my life as miserable as possible while trying to get this up in a timely and respectable manner. Which you may decide was not as timely and respectable as it was supposed to be.

In any case, let's get this showboat on the road. (See what I did there?!)

Whoohoo!!! bsg_bigbang has started posting, and guess which fic is up?

I totally cheated as far as posting goes. What I did, for anyone who's curious, was just create a new journal for the sole purpose of putting the fic there. Because it's 18 sections, and while for people with long f-lists my post-date strategy works, I realized there are people on my f-list with short lists, and that's not so effective.

I may do a master post in this journal, but I'm betting that most everyone reading this that would be interested in reading is in one of the two communities I posted to, and I don't want to spam journals too badly. A master post for The Space Between Us is, well, there.

I'm really psyched about this fic. Normally, I post in chapters, so it's kind of neat to do it differently. And I can't wait to read what everyone else has written, too.

Now, NaNoWriMo, which has been kicking my butt. I might post more about why later, but all I'll say right now is I feel like my plotting creativity is utterly sapped. It sucks.

But I should write something- I still have lots of writing to do!

Title: The Space Between

Rating: R for violence, language, and rape- not much sex at all
Pairings: Gaeta/Hoshi, Pilot!Eight/Engineer!Two, Kara/Sam, the Tighs, the Agathons, Adama/Roslin, Boomer/Tyrol, Baltar/Caprica Six, Thornton/Sian, Sweet!Eight/OC!Four, Zarek/Racetrack
Warnings: Contains rape. The actual rape happens off-screen and is not the main plot, but the impact of it echoes through the rest of the fic. In addition to the rape, there is other talk of sexual assault, including referencing The Farm. If you would like more details in terms of who the assailants are, who the victim is, and what's going on, highlight: The rapists are the Sunshine Boys and the two Marines that were helping hold Athena down in Pegasus, and the victim is Hoshi. The rape takes place for reasons that are purely violent and meant as revenge, and this is not a hurt/comfort fic. (Not saying that Hoshi doesn't heal at all- just it's not the H/C genre.) As mentioned, the rape takes place off-screen, but Hoshi deals extensively with the fall-out through the rest of the story, and it very much influences his actions. Other warnings include torture, miscarriage (neither one is graphic), and character death.
Summary: Raptor 718 wasn't lost randomly; an Eight on board was ready to switch sides in the Cylon civil war. With the passengers of Raptor 718 being held prisoner on the Colony, the events on Galactica unfurl differently. (Season 4.5 AU fic, and Kara-poof-free.)

Huge thanks also to safenthecity, who made the off-handed comment that inspired the story. Although it's not an official prologue, my story Honor and Duty sort of serves the purpose, especially in regards to Sweet!Eight.

I'm also going to go ahead and submit the bid that Gaius Baltar is the most interesting man in the universe. He has more different careers than anyone else (Scientist, Politician, Revolutionary, Cult Leader, with Lee Adama coming in second with Military, Legal, Political.) He sleeps with more discreet models of cylons (Three, Six, and Tory) and is the only one to score more than three different versions of the same model (Caprica, Gina, Leda). He's the only one on the show to get a threesome. He's the only non-military character who gets to wear military garb (twice!) He has devout followers. He has hallucinations. If he wasn't so much fail for so many other reasons, I would think he was a serious Mary Sue.
